
2nd Street SE
Street and Utility Improvement Project
The 2nd Street SE construction project will begin July 28, 2025. During this project, some residents may have temporary water lines run to the residence. The contractor, Larson Excavating, will contact those who will be affected.

The project will be done in stages, with the first stage beginning at the intersection of 2nd Street SE and 8th Avenue SE. The City will send out updates as the project moves along into the next phases. Construction will be substantially completed by mid-to- late September with the finishing touches, done by early October, dependent on weather.

July 29
​
Crews have begun the process of removing all ash trees and other trees obstructing the project area. Next to start, the removal of the concrete and asphalt.




July 31
​
Crews continue tearing out bituminous and concrete along 2nd street.
​
In addition, a fire hydrant in the beach parking area to aid in temporary water supply as well as provide future fire protection needs.
​
The City reminds citizens to please stay out of the work zone areas to allow crews safe and efficient space to complete their work.





August 18
​
Crews continue clearing ash trees, and any tree in obstruction of the street project.
​
Crews have also been busy installing new valves and has began the prep work for new utility service lines. In addition, the gas company has been installing new main lines and services to houses in the construction zone.​
